Most people do not really know what kitty litter is. All we know is that our feline pets are attracted to the scent and they use it to urinate and defecate. We, as owners, try to find a scented kitty litter. We usually result in scented kitty litter through experience. Odor free kitty litters will have your home smelling like one big kitty litter box.
So what is the best kitty litter? There are many different types of kitty litters that product sellers try and get us hooked on. There are odor free kitty litters, scented kitty litters, crystallized kitty litters, and even “Green” kitty litters that are good for our planet. As we see advertised, there are many different brands of kitty litter. Dr. Elsey’s Preceious Cat Ultra, Worlds Best Cat Litter, Swheat Scoop Cat Litter, and Feline Pine Litter (clumping version). So which is the best?
If you are stuck and do not know what to buy for your cat keep in mind that if you are buying for a kitten then you should not buy any kitty litter that clumps. Since your feline is so small, if you decide on buying a kitty litter that clumps you kitten may eat the clumps that it forms. If you are buying kitty litter for an older cat then clumping kitty litter is ideal and is much easier for the owner to scoop out. As your kitten grows older the easier it will be to find a more friendly kitty litter that accommodates to you and your cats needs.
If you are looking for a less expensive kitty litter then there are a few brands that you can find at a local grocery store or pet store. Some brands are: Tidy Cats, Scoop Away, Arm and Hammer Cat Litter, Jonny Cat, Fresh Step , and Exquisicat. Exquisicat is a crystallized formula. Kitty litters that are made out tiny crystalized balls do a good job with holding in odor. If you are looking for a “Green” kitty litter than Yesterday’s News is a good one to consider. It is made from old, recycled news papers. It is more commonly used for cats that have had surgery or that have been declawed. Regular kitty litters could get into the cuts or incisions and cause pain and infection to your cat. Yesterday’s News is very safe for cats, who have recently had surgery, to use.
So again, which is the best kitty litter for you and your feline companion? All in all, it is based on a matter of needs and opinion. Make sure to notice your cats likes as well as his dislikes. And keep that in mind when you purchase your next bag of kitty litter.
